There are cities that simply become a destination. And then there are those that become part of a brand’s imagination. For Moncler, New York has long been both. A constant presence, made up of encounters, collaborations, images, and moments capable of telling the evolution of the maison through the lens of one of the most recognizable cities in the world. It is from this relationship that “New York in Moncler” is born, the project with which the maison celebrates over twenty years of shared history with the Big Apple. From September 9 to 13, the exhibition will take shape in the Vanderbilt Hall at Grand Central Terminal and, at the same time, will spread to various locations in the city. Not an exhibition confined to one space, therefore, but a story that chooses to move together with New York and be crossed by its energy.
A city as a backdrop
The project gathers a selection of photographs that trace moments, collaborations, and cultural exchanges built over more than two decades. Grand Central Terminal, Central Park, Chelsea Piers, and other iconic locations thus become part of a narrative that engages the language of Moncler with the unpredictable and layered language of New York. The starting point is the meeting of two seemingly distant worlds: snow and skyscrapers, mountains and asphalt, the outdoor heritage of the maison and the continuous transformation of the metropolis. A contrast that over time has become a shared identity.
Faces, places, and pop culture
What makes this journey even more personal are the protagonists who have been part of Moncler’s history in New York. Among the shots are Spike Lee, Sarah Jessica Parker, Tobe Nwigwe, and Vittoria Ceretti, along with a series of images that reflect the multicultural and creative character of the city. Completing the project is a short film dedicated to the relationship between Moncler and New York, released on the occasion of the exhibition. Narrating the story is Alicia Keys, a New York artist and friend of the house, whose voice accompanies a tale of memories, people, and places.
The new address on Fifth Avenue
The celebration does not stop at the exhibition. Just steps away from Grand Central Terminal, on Fifth Avenue, Moncler inaugurates the largest flagship store ever created by the maison. The new space represents the natural extension of a relationship that has lasted for decades: while the exhibition looks back at the memories and events that have built this relationship, the flagship looks towards the future. New York once again becomes a laboratory for Moncler. A city where fashion, art, culture, and entertainment coexist, and where the brand can continue to build its story through experiences that go beyond the product. “New York in Moncler” thus becomes more than just an exhibition: it is a tribute to a city and, at the same time, a celebration of a relationship that continues to evolve.
