Due eredità, un’unica visione. Lacoste and Mackintosh meet in a capsule collection that brings together savoir-faire, innovation, and functionality, transforming the aesthetics of tennis into a new exercise of contemporary elegance. Presented in preview during the fall-winter 2026 show by Lacoste, on the central court of Roland-Garros, the collaboration is born under the creative direction of Pelagia Kolotouros, creative director of the French Maison, and puts at the center of the stage the meeting between two realities united by a pioneering attitude.
On one side Lacoste, founded by René Lacoste, tennis player and innovator famous for revolutionizing the sports wardrobe with his iconic polo. On the other side Mackintosh, the historic Scottish outerwear house, which since 1823 has carried on the tradition of the famous waterproof fabric invented by Charles Mackintosh. It is precisely from this shared heritage that a collection of twelve pieces takes shape, created through the craftsmanship of the Mackintosh ateliers and designed to transcend the boundaries between performance and sophistication.
Functionality meets sophistication
The result is a wardrobe in which Lacoste’s codes are reinterpreted through the technical construction and protective attitude of Mackintosh. A poncho transformed into a polo. A trench dress. An overshirt reminiscent of a tracksuit. A pleated skirt with a belt. An essential coat. A low-waist trench coat. A blouson with adjustable cuffs.
Each silhouette is born from the meeting between a sporting vocation and precise tailoring. The protagonist material is the iconic Mackintosh waterproof rubberized cotton, composed of a layer of liquid rubber enclosed between two layers of fabric: a technical solution that becomes, at the same time, an aesthetic element. The proportions are generous but controlled, the lines clean, the functionality always present. The result is a new language, in which technical clothing frees itself from its purely utilitarian dimension to enter the territory of fashion.
Down to the smallest detail
It is in the details that the collaboration reveals its entire identity. The garments are enriched with co-branded buttons, inspired by the color palette of the show, with a tone-on-tone fabric crocodile and thin dangling chains embellished with a small metallic crocodile-shaped charm. Labels and oversized pockets complete the silhouettes, adding a graphic and playful dimension.
Also recurring throughout the collection is one of Mackintosh’s distinctive features: the waterproof tape. Applied in white along the internal seams and in black, non-conductive, on cuffs and hems, it becomes a true design element. Its lines graphically recall those of a tennis court, transforming a technical detail into an aesthetic statement. The same attention is found in the accessories. The iconic Lenglen bag is reinterpreted for the collaboration in two versions made of the same rubberized cotton: one with contrasting black profiles and a second with a monochromatic, essential and sophisticated aesthetic. The collection is completed by a surprisingly chic racket cover and a series of leather charms inspired by Lacoste’s archive motifs and Mackintosh’s maintenance labels. Small elements that amplify the neo-tennis character of the capsule and emphasize its more ironic and contemporary component.
Two heritages, a new playing field
Lacoste x Mackintosh is born from the meeting of two different stories but united by the same tension towards innovation. Two Maisons that, through their respective founders, have transformed functionality into a gesture of style. The collection brings this heritage into the present and projects it towards a wardrobe where protection, performance, and sophistication coexist without compromises.
Sporty in attitude, sophisticated in construction, radical in details. Lacoste x Mackintosh rewrites the codes of tennis through the language of outerwear, letting the material trace the new playing field. The collection is available online from September 24th and in a selection of stores.
